This is my response to those people who are upset & feel a need to cuss me out…just because- I’m a woman over 50 & willing to date anyone from the “age of 18 on up”… Feel Free to rate or comment.

WILD WEEK-LONG CELEBRATION COMES TO WILMINGTON NC Women throughout the Cape Fear region and beyond are gearing up to go wild at the WILD festival of Motherhood coming up in September. The week long festival, aptly named “Women In Labor Daze”, begins September 1st with a kick off concert from Michele and the Midnight Blues and will continue through Labor Day. All scheduled WILD events are designed to celebrate, honor, and support all mothers. The Lower Cape Fear YWCA and the Women’s Studies and Resource Center at UNCW are teaming to produce the festival. WILD events include: an opening night concert at Mayfaire, featuring Michelle and the Midnight Blues, an art opening at UNCWs Warwick Center, various panel discussions throughout the week, a “Town Hall” style meeting, comedic improvisation workshop with local professional Brooklin Green, a relay race, a night of comedy, three nights of the internationally produced play, “Birth”, by Karen Brody, and more. Kirsti Kreutzer, local mother of two and WILD organizer, says that it’s time for Wilmington mothers to come together. “Motherhood can be isolating and deflating,” Kreutzer said. Mothers need to recharge their batteries. They need to celebrate their place in the world, and their ability to create, nurture, and enhance human life. Mothers need the community of other mothers to recharge, to hone their skills, and to empower themselves with all the various tools that other mothers have to offer. I want WILD to be a space in time that mothers come together to try to build a stronger community.” In 2007, in partnership with BOLD, (“Birth” on Labor Day, founded by Karen Brody), Kreutzer and Anna Van Wagoner brought “Birth” to Wilmington. Kreutzer’s involvement in the “Birth” production inspired in her a desire to support and empower mothers not only in birth, but well beyond. Brody’s play has been produced in over 30 cities and is intended to advocate for empowering women in childbirth. “The play has helped to change the face of modern maternity care.” Kreutzer says. “That’s huge! Because a play was produced in a lot of places, many women are not only better informed of birth choices, but they have been given the power that should have been theirs all along. It’s time to empower, inform, and celebrate mothers for the sake of motherhood, as well. It’s my hope that WILD can spark change in the lives of local mothers, if nothing else but a renewal, a sense of celebration of mothers in general. After all, they are the source.” The WILD kick-off concert will be held at Mayfaire on Tuesday, September 1. Celebrate local mothers Tuesday night and every night until the closing celebration on Labor Day. Bring yourself and another mother, or better yet, other mothers.
