Saturday, June 30, 2007 http://www.documentingreality.com/forumAn escapee from the Talbert House Community Correctional Center on Ohio 63 in Turtlecreek Twp. in Warren County led police on a dramatic chase that ended in a crash and arrest in Hamilton County just before 4 p.m. Friday, police said.Police chased the white Chevy Trailblazer SUV on I-71 south from the Kings Island area in Warren County at about 3:25 p.m. after Hamilton Twp. police officer Lisa Elliott spotted the vehicle that had been reported stolen.Warren County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to comply, police said. Prior to the attempted stop, a deputy with Stop Sticks had been positioned further south on I-71 near the Fields-Ertel Road exit. The suspect drove over the Stop Sticks and the front tires began deflating, but the suspect drove on the rims for more than three miles, ramming several vehicles and causing multiple accidents on I-71, although no one was injured, police said.The chase continued into Hamilton County and the SUV finally came to a stop on the Montgomery Road exit ramp in Kenwood.The driver, Adam E. Carpenter, 20, New Richmond, surrendered to police a short time later as officers had him at gunpoint. A Taser was used on him after he did not comply with deputies’ verbal commands while being handcuffed, police said.The vehicle had been stolen from the home of Margaret Brooks of the 3300 block of Ohio 63 in Turtlecreek Twp. According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Brooks and her sister and next-door neighbor, Madonna Woebkenberg, came home and walked in on Carpenter, who had broken into the home and had armed himself with a shotgun taken from the home. He demanded car keys and tied the women to chairs before taking the SUV and fleeing, police said. One of the sisters was able to call 911 and report the incident. Neither sister was injured.Carpenter had been sentenced to the facility in Warren County from Clermont County in March for multiple theft offenses. He is being held at the Warren County Jail.
